Pleasure Dome (PD) is seeking Board Members who are practicing media artists or cultural workers to collaboratively lead our organization. Do you have qualifications in curation/programming, community engagement, marketing, publishing, fundraising, HR, or financial expertise? This is a great opportunity for media artists and cultural workers in the early stages of their career looking to gain experience or for someone wanting to offer existing expertise to support an arts organization.
We are concerned about the well-being of our neighbours living in park encampments. We demand that the city of Toronto stop spending taxpayers’ money on clearing encampments. Instead, these funds ought to be diverted to include the provision of fire safety equipment, tents, sleeping bags, and access to water and bathroom facilities. Displacing people from their homes during a pandemic is immoral, and a serious public health concern. We implore a moratorium on encampment clearings and urge the city to repeal the by-laws that make it illegal to camp. The city must stop criminalizing people living in encampments.
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. This volunteer role helps create financially sustainable strategies for the organization.

Pleasure Dome stands in solidarity with Black folks protesting against white supremacy, systemic racism, and police violence.
The Covid-19 pandemic has precluded the possibility of traditional in-person screening events. So, we are initiating a swift website upgrade to an issues-based online magazine platform—streaming experimental video from our open call, with curatorial essays and remarks, as well as artist interviews. Importantly, we will be scheduling Zoom meetings with community members and artists to connect in the near future.
Call for Submissions: 25th NEW TORONTO WORKS
DEADLINE: Oct. 1, 2019.
To waive the entry fees, please use code PD2020.
Pleasure Dome stopped screening at Cinecycle following Taja Nicholle’s account because we oppose racism without conditions. Pleasure Dome recognizes that an act of racism occurred and we were publicly silent. We were dismayed, powerless, and perplexed at how to intervene, and this limited our ability to act in solidarity. Here and now, we apologize for all harm this silence perpetuated – we are sorry.
