We commissioned four local artists, writers, and filmmakers from our recent Digital Now e-book project, Renata Azevedo Moreira, Dhvani Ramanujam, Cody Rooney, and Fan Wu, to respond in creative ways to Pleasure Dome’s spring and summer 2023 in-person screenings. You can read their responses here.
As part of our commitment to cultivating accessible conversations about experimental film and media, Pleasure Dome commissioned four local artists, writers, and filmmakers from our recent Digital Now e-book project, Renata Azevedo Moreira, Dhvani Ramanujam, Cody Rooney, and Fan Wu, to write critical and creative responses to Pleasure Dome’s spring and summer 2023 screenings. Each was tasked with the unique challenge of writing about the live event of attending the in-person screening and viewing the experimental film and video works in real time as part of an audience.

The screenings that these writers attended are “Reimagining Queer Liberation,” guest programmed by Jacob Crepeault, and “Blood Ties: Reimagining Interconnection,” guest programmed by Clare Samuel.
Both screenings took place in person at Small World Music Centre, a fully-accessible venue located at the Artscape Youngplace building in downtown Toronto.
