Open Call for Submissions

Pleasure Dome welcomes submissions of experimental, time-based media work by Canadian and international artists for our 2021-22 programming year. The deadline for submissions is April 9, 2021.

Pleasure Dome presents artists who expand, fracture and scrutinize the traditional cinematic spectacle, including those who use moving image technologies that are digital, interactive, or performative.

The deadline for submissions is April 9, 2021.

We feature cross-disciplinary and non-narrative moving-image artworks, a variety of styles and traditions from those of the historical avant-garde to post-modern strategies of video/film mixes; CGI animations; and other attempts to re-imagine the modernist experimental tradition. We embrace well established techniques, including—but not limited to—amateurism; remixing; abstraction; essayistic structures; and poetry. We consider contemporary interventions that include images, structures, and affects associated with social media; fan culture; video games; and live streaming.

Pleasure Dome is committed to inclusive programming that prioritizes work by women artists, Black artists, Indigenous artists, artists of colour, disabled artists, and LGBTQ2SIA+ artists. We are committed to our organization’s history of considering political and subversive artworks, as well as artworks that collapse artistic categories and might find difficulty being placed elsewhere.

We accept single-channel films as well as multi-channel or expanded cinema projects, installation, and performance. If the form of your project is not well suited to single-channel streaming, please include relevant links to additional materials in the project description or notes. We can accommodate 35mm, Regular / Super 8, 16mm, VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray, and Digital files.
