CALL FOR BOARD OF DIRECTOR – TREASURER
About this role:
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. This volunteer role involves working with Pleasure Dome’s Board of Directors and Operations and Development Manager to oversee and approve financial information, ensure best practises are being met (according to government and legal standards) and, with the support of the board and staff, help create financially sustainable strategies for the organization. The treasurer may choose to focus entirely on this role, but is welcome to join other committees at Pleasure Dome (e.g. programming, community outreach, human resources).
PD is governed by a working board that operates as a programming collective, and is prominently (though not exclusively) made up of practicing experimental media artists and cultural workers.
The Treasurer is responsible for ‘in-person’ financial reports at each monthly board meeting. During COVID-19, all Pleasure Dome meetings are taking place remotely.
Is this role for me?
If you have experience in business, accounting, bookkeeping, financial planning or management, we’d love to hear from you. This is a great opportunity for a business-oriented candidate interested in using existing expertise to support an arts organization. The treasurer role is also an opportunity for a business-oriented candidate in the early stages of their career who is looking to build experience and/or broaden their portfolio. We are seeking a candidate available for a minimum of 3-4 hours a month. Serving on the Board of Directors of an artist-run centre like Pleasure Dome is also a great way to make connections and friendships in Toronto’s creative community. We encourage all interested candidates thinking about applying to submit an application.
PD is strongly committed to fostering diversity within our community and to recruiting diverse members of the Board. We welcome those who would contribute to furthering this mission, including, but not limited to: women, visible and invisible minorities, First Nations and Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons across the spectrum of sexual orientation or gender identity.
NB: Board members are volunteers and therefore cannot be financially compensated for their work, or exhibit with Pleasure Dome while serving their Board term.
Please submit a current C.V. and short statement of interest to HRpleasuredometo@gmail.com using the subject heading ‘Board Application: Treasurer’. We will accept applications until a suitable candidate is found.
Interested applicants who would like to learn more about the organization and/or time commitments are encouraged to reach out to HRpleasuredometo@gmail.com or our website pdome.org for more information.
