Part of Spring 2022

FLUIDØ is a super hyper-viral ride for fluid junkies. In 2060, after the government declares the eradication of AIDS, mutated HIV viruses result in the emergence of “ZERO GEN” — genetically evolved, gender-fluid humans whose ejaculate is an intoxicating hypernarcotic. A new war on drugs begins, and the ZERO GEN are declared illegal. The bio-drug carriers are caught between underground drug lords, glitched super agents, a scheming corporation, and a corrupt government in this conspiracy-filled cypherpunk sci-fi.

Shu Lea Cheang is a Taiwanese-American director now based in Paris. A pioneer in the field of media art, she embraced the internet and hacking culture early on, recognizing both its capacity to enslave as well as liberate, mixing that with queer and sexually explicit imagery bringing something new to the cultural landscape. She is best known for her 2000 cult smash, I.K.U., perhaps the first film to radically explore the possibilities of cybernetic sexualities. Cheang describes herself as both a “cyberhomesteader” and a “high-tech aborigine,” hinting at meta-levels of not only her own life but in the worlds of her films.
