Co-presentation with Art Spin
Part of Summer 2015
As part of Art Spin 2015, Pleasure Dome will premiering a new 10:56 minute looped 16mm film entitled Ways + Means by Toronto-based moving image artist Leslie Supnet. In the spirit of all things bicycle, the film will be presented outdoors on a hand-built, pedal-powered projector created by Martin Heath and Petra Chevrier. Ways + Means both begins and ends at Toronto’s Union station, a place that holds the memory of Supnet’s arrival and inevitable moving away from the city. Using the textures and colours of the urban landscape, she offers a hyperkinetic wandering through Toronto — of familiar and newly discovered places. Using pixilation, imagery of the city speeds by, compressing time and place and echoing her experience living in the city.
Other Supnet animated films will be digitally projected inside during Art Spin’s closing party.lesliesupnet.com
Art Spin is a bicycle tour of art in Toronto. Since 2010 the tour features commissioned multi-disciplinary works, ranging from art performances to site-specific installations, as well as visits to galleries and to artists’ studios. As well as monthly bike tours, Art Spin curates and mounts an annual group exhibition at the end of each season taking place in an alternative industrial space.
