The spellbinding world of Nick and Sheila Pye radiates beyond its apparent confinements. Both their art and marriage originated during studies at the Ontario College of Art & Design. The couple has since developed an international reputation. Pleasure Dome presents the first film and video survey of these young local heroes. Nick and Sheila rekindle the old embers of cinematic magick, reconciled to, rather than differentiated from or elevated above, destitution, deterioration, dwelling at the fringes. Advancement and availability of digital video processing has put special effects into hands of artists. The Pyes discuss the tools of the new underground and how they use them to translate a two-headed creative process into portraits of catatonia.
