Part of Fall 2002
Pleasure Dome is proud to have famed video artist and professional misanthrope Joe Gibbons on hand for the Canadian premiere of his video diary-opus Confessions of a Sociopath.
For decades, Gibbons used super 8 and video to capture his interactions with psychiatrists and parole officers, his obsession with bottles and needles, and his abortive attempts to give up shoplifting and become a “respectable member of society”. Confessions of a Sociopath compiles it all, along with Gibbons’s signature sardonic narration, into a hilarious and troubling portrait of a self-destructive personality trying to find out what makes itself tick.
Also featuring video and celluloid from such blissful misfits as Kika Thorne & Adrian Blackwell, Colleen Collins & Claire Greenshaw, and Shawn P. Morrissey – plus a new video by Miranda July – this promises to be an evening of movies that colour everywhere but inside the lines.
