Paul and Menno de Nooijer are a father and son artist-collaborators who use a mixture of animation, performance and still photography to examine the boundaries of representation. From Middelburg, Holland, the de Nooijers are currently on a North American tour presenting a retrospective of their work. Inspired by such diverse artists as fellow Dutch filmmaker Frans Zwartjes, George Melies, Jacques Tati and Buster Keaton, their work ranges from pure abstraction to madcap surrealism, exploring the phantasmagoric territory between film and still photography.
