Shipping memes, screaming teen girls, daytime dramas, and a pregnant Harry Potter. Within the collectively-driven desires of fan communities and texts, the future is female, brimming with excessive attachments and pleasurable gestures and rewrites. Obsessive Pop Tendencies is a program exploring how fandom crosses over into contemporary art practices. Featuring a new commission from Maya Ben David alongside works by Lorna Mills and Yoshi Sodeoka, Owen G. Parry, and more. Accompanying the screening is a micro-publication featuring an interview with Catherine Grant and Kate Random Love, co-editors of the forthcoming Goldsmiths Press publication Fandom as Methodology.

Curated by Rea McNamara, Programming Committee, Board of Directors.
