Destinations features selections from the Kinodot Experimental Film Festival, an international experimental film festival, which has been showing artist’s moving images in Saint Petersburg, Russia since 2012; while there is no official censorship in Russia, it has become more difficult to show films. Destinations features work from Russia, Brazil, Thailand, Qatar, Palestine, and Lesotho. While each is formally distinct, they carry political messages that are part of an urgent conversation. The themes of displacement, exile, and societies-in-transition echos throughout. This program includes a slow-moving film essay on ecology and indigenous culture, humorous feminist animation, genre-bending film-provocation, and homeless home movies.
