Part of Summer 2012
Artist and curator Johannes Zits will be presenting works for the second edition of Screening of Performance Art in the Natural Environment (SPANE). This program features a diverse mix of performance-based videos in which artists interact with uncultivated or rural surroundings. The documentation of these performances ranges from unedited to highly manipulated or staged. This screening is held in conjunction with an off-site event organized by The Tree Museum at Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto Islands.

5:00 – 6:15 pm Performance
Opening the evening’s events Sitting Wrapping is a series of new performance works by Johannes Zits in collaboration with Alicia Manvan. Inspired by local landscape, these works are the culmination of a three week residency at Artscape (August 2012), preceded by a two week residency in Mexico in the spring of 2012.

Working, performing and being in nature is inspiring. It can spark the imagination and create the potential for an action. Capturing ephemeral moments through performance opens the opportunity for it’s poignancy to be revisited and shared. Artist and curator Johannes Zits will present a diverse mix of works where the performers are interacting with uncultivated or rural surroundings.
