Roughage is finally back in Toronto with a multi-media extravaganza that will assault your ears and eyes. Combining live musicians and sound artists with original and found/stolen/manipulated footage projected on a battery of screens, this event may conjure up some of the cinematic marvels which were on display at Expo 67 in Montreal. For those who are too young to remember, here’s your chance to relive the past you never had. Updated with 21st century digital technology without negating the visceral charms of celluloid, this new world premiere Roughage performance may be their most ambitious yet. Listen as the listless sounds of yesteryear collide with the brittle noise of a bitter future. Watch as images of your former lives come back to haunt and embarrass you once again!
Roughage was formed in Montreal some thirteen years ago by Zev Asher. A number of recordings were released during that period and numerous audiences in Canada, the United States, Japan and Europe were stunned by the live performances. This exclusive Pleasure Dome event will feature the participation of a number of very special guest musicians and film/videomakers.
